Using content from Bangkok1080
Content:
Bangkok1080.asia is a place for modern Thai movies plus in addition, it will eventually cover topics such as Media Centers & High Definition. Think DVD/Blue-ray releases, Thai Movies and also some Asian movies in the future, etc. The site is still in the beta as I am still building up content and as I have some catching up to do. Bangkok1080 was started in March 2009 and I still need to go back in time and dig out info on all movies until now. I want this to be a complete source at some point but I hope you can see that I am moving forward quite fast.
Types of Content:
There are 3 types of information pages you will find on bangkok1080:
1. Movie Reviews:
Nothing much to explain about that. Movie reviews are either from a DVD or Blue Ray I have watched. they include an overview, some info on the plot, a movie rating and info on subtitles (if available or not) and also some general info about the video quality of the disc (without going into too much geeky detail).
2. Movie Profiles:
Movie profiles is what I call short overviews of movies with a synopsis explanation. They are NOT reviews. It happens so many times that it is very hard to find any info on the plot of new or old Thai movies.
To make it short: When I didn't review a movie yet but I have info on the plot, then I will post a short movie profile so you can at least make out if you could be interested in the movie or not.
3. Trailers:
All trailers on bangkok1080 are self hosted. I did this for the following reason: Many trailers tend to be deleted from youtube over time. For some reason, there are still movie companies who do not like their trailer be posted there. So whenever I visit other movie sites, I find many dead links to youtube videos there which is annoying. As I self-host all trailers, this cannot happen and all trailers should always be available online.
4. News:
This can be a simple new movie poster I post, news on some actors/actresses, new movie info, info on releases, etc.
5. Articles / Tutorials / HD:
Besides movies, there is another topic this website was created for: HD content, video encoding and media centers. To sum it up: how to take your DVDs and Bluerays and then rip, encode and decode your Thai movies (or whatever other content you have) on your PC and finally stream it to your media center, Blue-ray player, use your Xbox or PS3 to play files etc. Everything that has to do with a media center living room. I just post info on this sometimes but this should increase in the future as these technologies become more popular.

All of the content on the main site of bangkok1080 is tagged properly to make it easier to find stuff. That means that you can also use this to your advantage to display certain content. For example: The standard structure of a tag page is:
http://www.bangkok1080.asia/items/tag/put-tag-name-here
So let's say you are looking for all content that has been posted about the movie Bangkok Dangerous. You can either go to the movie master list, year 2005, scroll to find the movie and then click on its name OR you could just copy the following URL into your browser:
http://www.bangkok1080.asia/items/tag/bangkok-dangerous
This will work in many cases and then show you all the content about this movie such as trailers, reviews etc.
Navigation:
There are a few things that is useful to know in order to find the content you are looking for. The main site of Bangkok1080 works like a blog. New stuff that is posted appears at the top and moves down afterwards. You can use the filters at the top to view only one type of content. At the moment "Trailers", "Reviews", "Profiles", and "News" are available.
Search:
You'll find the search a great tool to find what you are looking for. It does a full text search on all content. just don't forget that any word that has less than 4 letters will not be found by the search.
Review System:
When I was planning to do this site I was brainstorming on a few things that I came over on other movie review sites to figure out what is actually needed for the review part of bangkok1080 from my point of view. The following things came up as most important to me:
1. Not too much bla bla
2. Not too many spoilers
3. Reviews on the picture and audio quality are nice but I don't think that most people will see a big difference from one Blue-ray disc or DVD to another. This is why I stay away from complicated rating systems about this part. I WILL definitely mention when there are very bad, or extremely good cases. So you will definitely get a warning where it is necessary but you won't find page long technical jargon about this.
4. I always liked the idea of seeing a bit of the movie so in most cases I will provide screenshots and the trailer of the movie together with a short overview.
I will give a simple 1-10 rating (1 being worst, 10 being best) but in their very nature, reviews are subjective. My opinion might not be yours. For these cases I encourage you to leave your comments with your opinion. Thanks!
Using content from Bangkok1080:
If you want to include content from Bangkok1080 on your site it's OK, but a few things that are required in order to do so:
1. I do not allow to use any content commercially.
2. if you are an individual and do not plan to use anything commercially, then it's Ok to reuse any content from the site BUT see point 3.
3. ONLY thing required is to ALWAYS give a link back to me if you use something from this site. I think that is not asked for too much. Thanks.
